Mincong Liu recently (June 2019) completed his Ph.D. on the mechanical behavior of hydrogels.  His work advanced the use of digital image correlation (DIC) for fracture in soft materials and he developed for the first time a kinetic model of fracture in dual-crosslink hydrogels.
