Yi Xu successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on the performance and degradation of polyimides under extreme conditions.  This is the first work to study the combined effects of hydrolytic degradation, plasticization and high temperatures in polyimides.  Models developed from this work have been used to simulate steam pressure driven blistering under conditions of rapid heating.  (June 2017)
